Love at First Sight with Quintana Roo
As you can see by the picture seeing and being on this beach was love at first site and feel for us in Quintana Roo(QR),MX!! Every since our Honeymoon we try and make it back to QR once a year. It felt like home from getting greeted at the shuttle van with the hotel’s ‘special welcome drink,’ walking to our room with a ‘ Honeymoon’ banner strung across the door, and a white swan made with a towel and rose pedals sprinkled around our room. We could not have felt more welcome at the Catalonia Royal Tulum!

After dropping everything off in our room the next mission was to find the beach. Walking through the jungle that the hotel was nestled in on a path to the beach was an experience within itself. Seeing many iguanas greet you along the way. You always had to watch where you walked so you didn’t step on one. As you walked down the cobblestone path you soon saw the pool then the beach on the otherwise of the pool area.
With every step taken feeling like you are walking in flour, the sand is soft that it sticks to your feet. You were able to walk for miles exploring the beach, ruins, old buildings and washed up old boats. After our trip there for our honey Quintana Roo had a special place in our heart. We actually named our dog Roo after our travels. Always having a piece of Mexico with us daily.

Tulum has some of the most beautiful beaches that I have ever been to, so white, soft and inviting. It is about 80miles from Cancun, which is where you fly into. It is such a nice place to go for vacation because it is about a 3.5hr flight from Denver, CO and about a 1-1.5hr shuttle ride to your hotel and on the beach by evening!! Talk about loving traveling to the regions around Cancun and even better when traveling with a toddler because you don’t have to worry about switching planes. It is also nice because there is less party people there and more of a chill, family environment the further you get outside of Cancun.
Our resort here was an adults only hotel, which was nice when on your honeymoon. On the smaller side, which was perfect for us. Full of multicultural people, we were some of the few Americans. Lots of locals from different parts of Mexico and the majority of guests were from different parts of Europe. That is another part we love about traveling is meeting people from other countries and getting to know them. We have stayed in contact with lots of people that we have met on our trips and keep up on life through social media with them.
To the next time we meet QR, Adios!
