Creating an Intention

I have learned over time, the importance of being intentional: good life choices, setting goals, being self-motivated, and taking action. Competition and staying active has always been a part of my life and I decided to give yoga a try during college for a stress release. This is where my passion for sharing my views on health and wellness began. I saw through my experiences in the athletic training room in high school and college that there was a need to work on the foundations of fitness. During my yoga journey I saw how yoga impacted my whole life, not just the physical side, but also the whole mind, body and soul. This made me become more intentional about my life and how I chose to live it and saw the impact on all facets of my life.
In 2010, I completed my 200hr Yoga Certification, and began teaching several different styles of yoga; hot, vinyasa and yoga with weights. Teaching 13 or more classes a week at my peak of teaching, building a community and helping people become more fit and find their ‘zen.’ I felt that I found my calling in the fitness industry. Seeing the transformations that would take place over time at the yoga studio was amazing! Not just physical transformations, but people getting more in tune with their body’s; with the right kind of lifestyle change with fitness.
When our girl was born. I quickly understood that I was no longer only focused on my own well being and teaching others but now I was a role model to my daughter. I continue to focus on my health and fitness, but looks at it as a journey. That is also what I love about yoga, there is something always to work on and improve. Just when you master one thing, there is something else that can be grown. Yoga has shown me that if you set an intention for your practice, it will aid in internal focus, which has helped me so much in the past few years with parenthood.
