Baby I was born this way
The day after the Super Bowl a friend of mine posted on FaceBook, “I’ve been waiting to see comments on this (happy that her body wasn’t the main focus!).. but I love that Lady Gaga didn’t have a six pack! She is so real.. performed so well and looked fab!!’
We get SO stuck on how our bodies should or should not look these days based on how social media and society portrays us. The stigma attached to women and their body image HAS TO change!
There is nothing more powerful and FIERCE than to see powerful women that so many people look up to, in the music or movie industry who bring their ‘REAL’ body at any stage out and ROCK it. You can tell they are comfortable in their own skin, with the way they perform and the outfits they choose to wear.
Lady Gaga, did just that during the Super Bowl! She is a powerful FIERCE figure in the music industry and has broken a lot of stereo types, wearing her ‘own’ styles and making a name for who she really is and not forming to anyone and what they say. She has her own quirky style and owns every outfit she wears, from the meat outfit to the outfit she rocked at the Superbowl, which reminded me of a dresses up football uniform.
You can tell she just isn’t sitting around eating bon-bons, but working on her fitness. Her body was toned, especially her legs, but everything wasn’t as ‘tight’ or ‘toned’ as most would view ‘ok’ to wear a crop top, she had some what of pooch. It is OK that her stomach area isn’t in the best shape, or what most of media would view ‘crop top ready.’ Not everyone is going to have a perfect body everywhere. We all have different types, I will never have skinny legs and I know that, it is just something I have come to realize and I am OK with that.
I have had to learn to love my body in every stage of life. From pregnancy to full-term at 9months to postpartum and getting back into shape, to now where things just aren’t the same that they use to be before kids. But I try my darnedest to love my body everyday and especially infront of our girl. Yes, some days are hard, but I try to everyday. To have her grow-up to have a positive body image and not conform to the world views.
She has killer legs and may never have a 6pack, but the fact that she is confident in her OWN skin and isn’t afraid to show it is what I admire and appreciate about Lady Gaga and other women in the ‘spot light’ = they LIVE FIERCE!
